Truffle Hunting in Umbria Italy
A truffle hunter and his dogs strolling through the fields and forest.
Black truffles from Umbria, Italy.
Our tiny ancestral village of Pettino, in Umbria, is home to many truffle hunters. They’re all part of the same family, a family that has lived and hunted truffles here since the 15th Century.
Truffles and truffle hunting in this secluded Italian hideaway are an everyday part of life. Almost every day of the year we go truffle hunting, we eat truffles and we sell truffles. We are the custodians of many truffle recipes, handed down through the family from generation to generation, and the caretakers of these truffle-rich forests and mountains for our future generations of truffle hunters.
Umbria is the pinnacle of Italy’s truffle traditions and the culture that surrounds them. Umbria is one of the biggest truffle producing areas of Italy.
We have many black truffles, both winter and summer, but we also have white truffles and the white Spring truffle called bianchetto. Truffles and especially Umbrian truffles have become famous all around the world, but here in our ancestral village of Pettino we have a very relaxed and natural approach to truffles. We thrive in the truffle hunting lifestyle, as we’re close to nature, we love fresh, delicious food and we’re never far from a bottle or jug of our local wine.
We’d love you to experience the pleasure and fascination of truffle hunting in Umbria. It’s a poetic and fascinating experience, but also very relaxing and great fun.
Join us for an unforgettable day of truffle hunting, authentic Umbrian culture and truffle rich cuisine.
